Apple iPhone 17 Introduces Advanced Security for Crypto Users with MIE

Apple's iPhone 17 has unveiled a hardware-level security upgrade designed to protect cryptocurrency users. The new Memory Integrity Enforcement (MIE) system, enabled by default, leverages Enhanced Memory Tagging Extension (EMTE) to block memory corruption exploits—common attack vectors targeting wallet apps and signing processes.

The MIE feature specifically mitigates risks from out-of-bounds and use-after-free errors, which cybersecurity firm Hacken identifies as critical vulnerabilities in crypto operations. This development aligns with Apple's broader strategy to fortify devices for high-net-worth individuals and frequent digital asset traders.

While MIE addresses memory-based attacks, it does not safeguard against phishing, social engineering, or compromised applications. The MOVE signals growing recognition of mobile devices as critical infrastructure for cryptocurrency security.
